Water Well Problems Rectified

Well Not Working? Fault Finding & Repairs

If your well pump has stopped working, is cutting out, or you’ve suddenly lost water pressure, the fault is often something simple in the control system — but there are several different ways a well can be wired and controlled, so proper diagnosis matters.

Some common causes include:

  • Faulty contactor or overload relay (tripping, buzzing, not pulling in)
  • Faulty float switch (well or tank level control not switching correctly)
  • Faulty capacitor (pump hums, struggles to start, or won’t start at all)
  • Faulty pump (worn motor, blocked intake, damaged cable, internal failure)
  • Empty well (low water level or seasonal drop causing the pump to run dry or trip)

I can test the electrics and control gear, check switching and protection, and confirm whether the issue is in the controls, supply, or the pump itself. Once the cause is found, I’ll explain the options clearly and carry out the repair.

All faults diagnosed and rectified where possible.
